Protecting and Empowering the Women Environmental and Human Rights Defenders (WEHRDs)

DCA in Nepal is empowering Women Environmental and Human Rights Defenders (WEHRDs) in Kailali, where marginalised communities—particularly Tharu women and Dalits—face systemic discrimination and gender-based violence (GBV). Through impactful projects, DCA in Nepal supports these courageous women who, despite threats and intimidation, continue to advocate for community rights. By challenging harmful gender norms, addressing GBV, and improving access to vital support services, these defenders are paving the way for a more equitable future. In collaboration with local governments, community groups, and civil society organisations, DCA Nepal is fostering safer, more inclusive spaces where WEHRDs can lead and thrive, free from violence and discrimination.
