Frankie 'Hollywood' Rodriguez on B-96, recorded 12/25/1993

#chicagohousemusic #housemusic In my opinion, 1993 was particularly memorable for B-96. That year saw several guest-mixers from New York as well as Chicago making appearances on the Killer Bee Dance party. As I understand it from one of my listeners who was plugged into the behind-the-scenes dynamics, the station was partnered up or collaborating with some New York producers, which resulted in some very fresh mixes that harkened back to more traditional sounding house. There was a lot more deep disco, a lot more Chicago-style trax, a lot more old school club joints, like THIS set by Frankie Hollywood Rodriguez. Sometime in 1994, B-96 would go back to focusing on the kind of progressive club trax it was generally known for, but for a little while, traditional-style house was getting mainstream exposure.
