The light is unyielding.
Still, the farmer leans on her scythe, surveying the crop of wheat she planted earlier in the season. Not that there were seasons, mind you, but the plants had cycles, and the knowledge had passed down to her from those who lived prior to the flood. Unfortunately, the knowledge could only do so much, and though she worked hard, the wheat yields were lessening each season.
With a sigh, she lifts her scythe and looks to the sky once more. Bright. Intense. All-consuming.
Wait. No, this is different. She squints her eyes. What is that? Something dark in the sky, nearly engulfed in the light.
A footstep makes her look over her shoulder. An adventurer, to her surprise, based on the weapon in their hand. But there is something strangely...moving about them. There is a hardness, certainly, but it's different. Not the hardness of futility like those of Wright, but the hardness of...determination?
She waves to them as they pass by, and the hardness softens momentarily as they wave back. Such a strange person. They linger for a moment before turning on their heel to follow an elf teenager.
In that moment, the farmer looks back to the sky, searching for that dark spot, and immediately feels a drop of water slide across her face. She blinks, confused, until a terrifying rumble cuts across the sky. She had heard about these in stories: thunderstorms. But they were all but stories now from before the flood. Then why...?
She looks back to the adventurer, who is fading from sight, that look of determination now covered by a smile as the elf expresses something to them. The strangers and a thunderstorm. In Kholusia. Two Unmatching Pieces.
