Camelot
Beyond the mist of England’s hills,
Where moonlight falls on ancient rills,
A castle rose beneath the dawn,
A dream of Britain newly born.
Young Arthur stood before the stone,
No golden crown, no royal throne,
He drew the sword no hand could free,
And changed the road of destiny.
Then Camelot raised towers high,
Its banners bright against the sky,
And knights came riding from afar
To gather where the great halls are.
No head, no foot, no highest chair,
The Round Table gathered equals there,
By candle flame they made their vow
To honour what we still tell now.
Oh, Camelot, your banners fly,
Beneath an old enchanted sky,
Raise Excalibur into the light,
Call the Round Table through the night.
Queen Guinevere walked through the hall,
While winter shadows touched the wall,
And Merlin watched the stars above,
Where fate entwined with war and love.
Sir Lancelot rode through distant lands,
With shield and sword within his hands,
While other knights crossed vale and grail
In search of what became the Grail.
Through forest dark and chapel old,
They followed stories yet untold,
For glory fades and kingdoms cease,
But legends travel where they please.
Then came the storm to Camelot,
And brother stood against his brother,
The shining dream began to break,
As battle thundered by the lake.
And when the wounded king departed,
Across the mist toward Avalon,
A hand rose from the silent water
Excalibur was taken home.
Arthur’s crown and Merlin’s flame,
England still remembers every name,
Though stone may fall and kingdoms end,
The dream of Camelot rises again.
Beyond the mist, beyond the years,
Beyond the battles, crowns and tears,
Some say the King shall come once more...
When Britain needs
The Once and Future King.
