New York City Ballet's Romeo & Juliet ✂️🖤🗡️ Animated Papercut Promo

Dream project for ‪@nycballet‬'s Romeo & Juliet campaign! ❤️‍🔥🗡️🌞 Created in collaboration with the talented ‪@AnnaChocholi‬ & ‪@evangildersleeve‬ I was tasked with crafting a short piece to capture the sombre yet romantic mood of the ballet 🖤 I directed a short film inspired by the miniature paper maquettes of Richard Hudson and brought in the talented animator @annachocholi to bring my papercut designs to life 💫 Together we worked closely over many months, devising this sequence of movements and light passes, showcasing the stunning costume designs recreated in my multi-layered papercraft style ✂️ We then enlisted the help of the talented musician ‪@evangildersleeve‬ to craft some bespoke sound design and remix the score, using an extract from Sergei Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, Op. 64 (1934-40) performed by the New York City Ballet Orchestra 🎻 We’re all elated with how the final film turned out and want to say a massive thank you to Laura Snow & Camille Aden for their fantastic direction and enthusiasm, as well as my US agents ‪@levineleavitt‬ for all their support 🙏 Tickets for the January New York performance are available now from ‪@nycballet‬ https://www.nycballet.com/season-and-...
