As the summer heat begins to fade across our fields in Sicily, the carobs start to fall, and the pomegranates turn red, it’s a wonderful time to reflect on the latest news in climate science. This summer delivered a massive, quiet turning point in the debate: the official global carbon emission forecasts provided by the IPCC have been dramatically downgraded for the second time this year, effectively bursting the bubble of climate extremism. In this episode, we unpack how the most extreme "doom and gloom" scenarios have been officially eliminated as implausible. We also look at the fantastic health of the Great Barrier Reef, which is currently seeing hard coral cover at or near record levels, and discuss Europe's recent summer heatwaves. From living in Sicily where temperatures reach past 40°C to analyzing the facts about extreme weather, I explore why adaptation, common sense, and realistic energy transitions are the real way forward. ➡️ Next episode: Fine art mystery.
