This GI ACE seminar explores how natural disasters such as floods shape corruption risks in public procurement. The research team analyses data from more than 3,000 municipalities and 2.5 million contracts across seven countries and four continents (2012–2025) to assess how disaster scale, existing corruption risks, institutional arrangements and sectoral differences influence outcomes. They present evidence showing how stronger transparency and scrutiny of disaster‑related spending can help reduce corruption.
