ಮಾಯಾ ಎಂದರೇನು? | What is Maya? | Traditional & Scientific Perspectives What is Māyā (ಮಾಯಾ)? Is it simply an illusion? Does Māyā mean that everything we see is fake? Or is there a deeper meaning behind this ancient concept? In Episode 11 – Part A, Cosmic Vani explores Māyā through two different perspectives — the Traditional Lens and the Scientific Lens. 🕉️ Traditional Lens We explore how Māyā is understood within Indian philosophical traditions, and why Māyā ≠ “everything is fake.” We also examine the relationship between Māyā and Avidyā (ಅವಿದ್ಯಾ) and how these concepts are connected to our understanding of reality and experience. 🔬 Scientific Lens Science approaches the question from a different direction. Our senses receive information from the environment, while the nervous system and brain process and interpret that information. So, an important question arises: “What we see is reality? Or is our experience of reality constructed by the brain?” This does not mean that the external world is simply an illusion. Rather, science helps us examine the difference between the world itself and our perception of that world. 🔍 The Cosmic Vani Approach As always, the goal is not to force a conclusion. Instead, we explore the subject through different perspectives and ask: “ನಾವು ನೋಡುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ರಿಯಾಲಿಟಿಯೇ? ಅಥವಾ ರಿಯಾಲಿಟಿಯನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಅರ್ಥೈಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿರುವ ರೀತಿಯೇ?” And this leads us to the next question… Does Māyā require a supernatural explanation?
