(Soulful Emma-Louise) once again teamed with the famed American DJ and Producer to record her new single, “Flowered Tears,” With her lyric, yet powerful voice, S.E.L. portrays both fragility and strength as she urges listeners to “hold on for longer” through dashed dreams until they rise to victory over life’s struggles. Portraying hope in the midst of despair, her positive message echoes like a breath of fresh air in today’s world. The singer, who has pursued a career in music since she was five years old, has mastered not only vocal virtuosity, but also piano, violin, and arranging—all which help her select just the right blend of melody, harmony, and arrangement to showcase her sultry voice. After she graduated from university with a degree in music, she headed for the London soul scene, where she soon turned heads. Not only has she been a full-time member of UK-Soul Royalty Collective Soul II Soul since 2005, championed by Grammy-award Winner Jazzie B; Her rising popularity landed her gigs working with international stars, including Alicia Keys and Jocelyn Brown. Her classical training gave her an opportunity to stretch her wings as an arranger when she collaborated with Duncan James to create vocal harmonies for his group, Blue. Her last single, “Elevation,” earned S.E.L. plaudits from the world over. After her solo performance at the prestigious Margate Soul Festival last summer, Mi-Soul Radio pronounced the song “an amazing tune” and urged her to “keep on doing what you do.” In the August 2016 edition of Soul, Jazz, and Funk, music journalist Bill Buckley describes the tune as “particularly tasty…championed by a goodly selection of soul tastemakers.” Her coming release promises to attract an even larger following. “Flowered Tears” will, no doubt, be the vehicle that propels the singer into the next chapter of her musical journey.
