Copper John Rubber Legs - Fly tying tutorial

Over the last couple of years there has been an explosion in rubber legged nymphs in Iceland. These flies are nothing new of course, but they came into the fly tying scene with a bang. You can tie these flies in multiple variations, change the colors and pretty much everything about the fly. Just don't leave out the rubber legs! Euro nymphing for sea run brown can be really effective and that's where this pattern shines the brightest. Of course you can hang it under an indicator the traditional way too, it's entirely up to you. Keep in mind while tying this fly that you don't have to cut the rubber legs too short, they're supposed to give the fly some movement and you loose a lot of it if the legs are too short. This fly isn't really meant to be pretty. It's meant to catch fish!
