Build a real-time sensor pipeline from the Raspberry Pi Pico W to Azure IoT Hub! In this video we use the Pico W with a BME280 sensor to send temperature, humidity and pressure data to Azure IoT Hub, then ingest it into Azure Data Explorer for querying. You’ll learn how to set up an IoT Hub device, generate a SAS token, send HTTP requests from MicroPython, and visualize your data in ADX.
What you’ll learn:
• Wire a BME280 sensor to the Raspberry Pi Pico W via I²C.
• Program the Pico W in MicroPython to read BME280 data and format JSON payloads.
• Create an Azure IoT Hub and register your Pico W as a device.
• Generate a Shared Access Signature (SAS) token with the Azure CLI for secure HTTP publishing.
• Stream telemetry to IoT Hub and ingest it into Azure Data Explorer for real-time queries.
Parts list:
• Raspberry Pi Pico W microcontroller (external).
• BME280 sensor – reads temperature, humidity and pressure.
• Breadboard and jumper wires to connect the sensor to the Pico.
• [ShillehTek store](https://shillehtek.com) — for sensors, jumper wires and prototyping accessories.
