The Only German 'SS' Camp On British Soil In The Island Of Alderney

Although it's widely known that the British Channel Islands were occupied by German Forces between 1940 - 1945, what is not so well known is that things took a more sinister turn on the third largest island of Alderney. With its entire population evacuated to England, thousands of forced workers, or 'slave' workers, were bought in from Russia and Eastern Europe to construct the vast number of concrete fortifications on the island. In order for this to happen, camps were built to house these workers under harsh conditions, and one of these camps ended up in control of the dreaded SS Totenkopf Division from Neuengamme Concentration Camp in Germany.
