In today’s episode of My Punjabi Heritage, we discuss the Phulkari Bagh. Along with my brother, Harbans, and my mother, Joginder, we talk about a family heirloom — my mother’s own 90+ year old Phulkari Bagh that her aunt lovingly embroidered and handwove for her. In Punjabi culture, Phulkari Bagh is a symbol of happiness, prosperity and the wellbeing of a woman. This stunning shawl-like fabric is close to my heart, and I am excited to share a little bit about it with all of you. Tune in as we discuss the etymology of the Phulkari Bagh, its significance and uses, and share some family stories!
