What does the future of Centers for New Horizons look like? For 55 years, Centers has been rooted in a vision of what is possible when we invest in children, families, young people, and the community. In the final video of our 55th Anniversary series, we look at that legacy and imagine what comes next. From Dr. Sokoni T. Karanja’s belief in community and his call to “always look up, never give up, and keep standing,” to the generations of leaders, families, and young people who have grown through Centers, his vision continues to shape the organization today. Centers has become more than a childcare provider. It has helped develop leaders, connect young people to employment and career opportunities, support families, and create pathways toward greater stability and opportunity. Now, as Bronzeville continues to change, Centers is looking ahead. The vision includes creating stronger spaces and opportunities for youth, expanding maternal and family services through Better Birth Outcomes and the Melissa Elam House, and continuing to develop the next generation of leaders, entrepreneurs, creatives, and community changemakers. The question is not simply where Centers has been for the past 55 years. It is what the community needs Centers to become for the next 55. The vision is here. The direction is taking shape. And the story continues. From Then to Now: 55 Years of Helping Families Thrive.
