The railways was one of the most vital aspects of Nazi Germany during world war 2 . Without its infrastructure, its probably doubtful that Hitler could have kept his war machine running at the pace that it did. At its peak, Nazi Germany had control of over 100,00 miles of railway lines throughout those occupied countries. I am in Poland. This country was the main passageway into Russia, so there is a lot to look at here. I`ll be exploring abandoned railway lines, abandoned turntables Abandoned tunnels, Dombunkers, and a railway line running through a mountain. So in the next few videos, ill be taking you around these old structures and give you some of the history of what me and you are looking at. In late 1940, before the anticipated invasion of the Soviet Union, the German military planned various command headquarters on the Eastern Front. Those to be used by Hitler as military commander were known as Führer Headquarters. Initially, three main sites were planned, known by the code names "Askania Nord," "Askania Mitte," and "Askania Süd," ( north . Middle and South ) to disguise their functions as chemical factories. "Askania Nord" became Hitler's headquarters Wolfschanze, ( wolfs lair ) and "Askania Mitte/Süd" became Anlage Mitte and Anlage Süd were only temporary sites for the protected parking of Adolf Hitler's command train. Both of these two sets of two tunnels sites had two similar complexes, a few kilometres from each other, built by Organization Todt. The complexes at Anlage Mitte were two long concrete bunkers for parking the trains, while Anlage Süd had one bunker site and one actual underground tunnel. All sites had an associated complex of bunkers for power generation and water supply. The idea of these bomb shelters were meant to serve as temporary headquarters for Adolf Hitler and administration when travelling to the main headquarters like Wolfsschanze (in Poland) and Werwolf (In Ukraine) In this video I take you around the Konewka Dombunker. This concrete train bunker is 382 metres long, and is located near the Polish village of Konewka. north-east of the town of Tomaszów, Mazowiecki. Of the three train bunkers of Anlage Mitte/Süd, this is the only one laid out in a straight line. The difference to this dombunker over the previous Yelen bunker video, is that this one is a museum. This is where I managed to gather much more information about these structures and its surrounding buildings from any previous research that I could find.
