Welcome back to RIDE KENYA 🇰🇪 — our journey exploring Kenya's roads, neighbourhoods, towns, and landscapes from a first-person cycling perspective. In Episode 7, we explore another side of Ruaka, riding through the area around the Northern Bypass and Limuru Road. Unlike the quieter residential streets featured in our previous episode, this route has a more highway-oriented character, with traffic moving along the main road, apartment buildings lining the roadside, and businesses serving the surrounding neighbourhood. The scenery here reflects a different aspect of life in Kiambu County, where residential development, commercial activity, and major transport routes come together. Although the road is busier and more built-up, there are still beautiful views to appreciate along the way. 🛣️ Ruaka Along the Northern Bypass and Limuru Road This ride takes us through a section of Ruaka shaped by major roads and the steady movement of traffic. The highway setting creates a different atmosphere from the quieter residential roads explored in our earlier rides. Vehicles pass along the route as people travel through the area, connecting different parts of the greater Nairobi metropolitan region. The road offers a ground-level view of how transport infrastructure and urban development meet in this growing part of Kiambu County. 🏢 Apartments Along the Highway One of the defining features of this route is the presence of apartment buildings lining the road. Tall residential developments form a prominent part of the scenery, highlighting the built-up character of this section of Ruaka. As we cycle past these buildings, we get to observe the architecture and the way residential developments sit alongside one of the area's important road corridors. The combination of high-rise apartments and a busy highway gives this ride a distinctly urban atmosphere. 🏪 Businesses and Everyday Commercial Activity Businesses located along the roadside add another layer to the scenery. From commercial premises to establishments serving nearby residents and passing road users, these businesses contribute to the everyday activity of the area. Their presence illustrates how commercial life develops around busy transport routes, where visibility and accessibility bring businesses closer to the flow of people and vehicles. 🚗 Highway Traffic and Changing Urban Scenery Traffic is an important part of this journey. Unlike the relatively quiet Red Hill Road ride, this route brings us closer to the movement and energy of Ruaka's main road network. Private vehicles and other road users share the highway as the surrounding buildings and businesses pass by. Through the bicycle's first-person perspective, we experience the road at ground level, taking in the traffic, roadside developments, and changing views as we move along. 🌍 There Is Always Beauty in Exploring New Destinations Every destination has something worth discovering.
