Nostalgia Spectrum: Letris

Letris is a puzzle game released in 1991 by Proxima Software. Developed by Mad Max and Orin Soft, the game is inspired by the classic Tetris but introduces unique mechanics. Instead of various shaped blocks, letters fall from the top, and the player's goal is to form words displayed at the bottom of the screen. The game features bins on either side of the screen, where players can discard unnecessary letters. Additionally, bombs of various types fall alongside the letters, which can destroy blocks in a column. Successfully forming a word prompts a related question, keeping the player engaged in a continuous cycle of word formation. Letris is designed for the ZX Spectrum 128K and 48K, featuring music for the Spectrum 128. The game includes an introductory section, Letris Intro, which offers several melodies and effects, along with messages from the creators. The collaboration between MADMAX and ORIN Soft results in a game that combines strategic thinking with language skills.
