If You Were The Only Girl Memories - Nat D. Ayer w. Carroll Gibbons & His Boyfriends

In the years leading up to and during World War 1, Nat D. Ayer was a successful songwriter and recording artist. His most famous song "If you were the only girl in the world" is still remembered today. He also composed "Oh, you beautiful doll" and "Let the great big world keep turning" amongst others. However, the years following WW1, saw his songs become less well received and his popularity waned. This is alluded to in James Dyrenforth's introduction. By the time of this mid '30s recording he had become a figure from the past. This record offers an updated interpretation of his popular songs but the record does not appear to have sold well.
