EPS Higher Pension Update: BJP Rajya Sabha MP Ajeet Madhavrao Gopchade has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking a resolution to the long-pending issues surrounding higher pension under EPS-95. Despite the Supreme Court’s November 4, 2022 judgment on higher pension, many eligible employees and pensioners are still facing procedural hurdles, delays and litigation. The letter highlights issues related to Para 26(6) of the EPF Scheme, exempted and unexempted establishments, pending applications, PF trusts and Parliamentary Assurance No. 271/72. The MP has sought a time-bound mechanism for processing higher pension applications, uniform treatment of eligible applicants and a review of the financial and actuarial sustainability of EPS-1995.
