Windsor, Eton and The Thames - Idyllic Cycle Ride

I've been wanting to do this cycle ride for quite a while. Travelling to Slough by train and cycling down to Windsor to take a look at Windsor Castle, the residence of Queen Elizabeth II, then along the River Thames trail with some beautiful homes along the river bank, through Maidenhead and the up to Cliveden House - a National Trust gardens and woodland. The house is a working hotel though tours are available certain days of the year though I didn't get to look around on this occasion. Our tough hot summer has really taken it's toll on the fields and the lawns at Cliveden but even so this idyllic ride was all that I had hoped it would be. Cliveden entry is free to National Trust members or there is an entry fee for those who are not. Cycling is allowed up the drive to the cafe area where there is cycle parking to lock your bike up, but cycling is not allowed around the property in general. We end the ride by cycling back along the Jubilee River for a look around Eton and Eton College finishing on the bridge between Eton and Windsor. The whole ride was around 33 miles. It's mostly flat and easy. There are some short stretches that the bike needs to be walked out of respect for the residence living along the waters edge but these are few. The ride up to Cliveden is road based and a little hilly in places. I recommend cycling this in good weather to really appreciate it. I hope you enjoy this as much as a enjoyed cycling it.
