Chinese listening practice at HSK 4 that actually trains your ear — a slow, natural Mandarin story about the Forbidden City in Beijing (北京故宫), with Hanzi + Pinyin + English on screen. Perfect Chinese comprehensible input for intermediate learners.
Did you know the Forbidden City was once truly "forbidden" — ordinary people were never allowed inside, and even today it hides more than 9,000 rooms? So what happens when you get completely lost among them?
📚 IN THIS EPISODE:
小宝 (Xiaobao) finally visits the Forbidden City she has dreamed of since childhood, arriving at the gates one morning with her best friend 小雪 (Xiaoxue). Wandering beneath endless red walls and golden rooftops, Xiaobao loses Xiaoxue in the crowd, her phone dies, and she suddenly realizes she is truly lost inside the imperial maze. In a quiet courtyard she meets 王师傅 (Master Wang), a warm elderly man who has spent nearly fifty years repairing the palace roofs — just like his father before him. Between a sudden downpour, a race against closing time, and a small keepsake tile, Xiaobao discovers the people quietly caring for this 600-year-old palace.
