Heart of the Bush — When the Big Country Tests Us 🌾🔥🤝 There’s a special kind of strength that lives in the Australian bush. It’s found in the people who show up when things get tough, lend a hand without being asked, and stand together when the big country tests us. Heart of the Bush is an original song I wrote to celebrate that enduring spirit of community — the resilience, generosity and quiet determination that bind rural communities together through both hardship and hope. From the dedicated volunteers of the Rural Fire Brigade, who put themselves on the line to protect lives, homes and livelihoods, to the wonderful work of the Queensland Country Women’s Association (QCWA), supporting families and strengthening communities in countless ways, these are the people who help keep the heart of the bush beating. Their contribution goes far beyond what we see on the surface. It’s in the early starts, the long days, the shared meals, the helping hands, and the simple understanding that when one of us is doing it tough, we all have a part to play. The photographs accompanying this song were captured around the magnificent Main Range National Park area — a landscape that speaks of the scale, beauty and rugged character of our country. These places remind us that while the Australian bush can be demanding, it also inspires a deep connection to the land and to the people who call it home. Because out here, community isn't just a word.
