Day 3. From camp we walked to the train and joined the traditional Inca Trail. Gorgeous trail through to Wiñay Wayna. Lunch, then the climb to the Sun Gate. Scramble up the monkey stairs for the first look at Machu Picchu. Final push onto the upper terraces. Machu Picchu at sunset. Llamas close enough to touch. Bus down to Aguas Calientes. Night at the Alpacaterra Machu Picchu Hotel. This was the day the trail pays off.
