FREEZING Winter Summit Camp in Kintail

In this video, we make the long journey up to Kintail in the Scottish Highlands for a two day traverse over the Cluanie Munros with a camp in between. We parked up in a lay-by next to Loch Cluanie after the long drive and went straight to sleep. After a freezing cold night in the van, we woke up to a colourful sunrise and decided it was time to stash the bike further up the road at the end of the route we had planned. The route was roughly around 23km (roughly 14 miles) which was made a lot harder due to the heavy packs we were carrying. The last climb to the camp spot was tough to say the least but we eventually made it before sunset. We pitched the tent which instantly started to freeze due to the temperatures and windchill. As with most of my trips, the drone was sent up into the sky for sunset. The views were unbelievable. However, we knew we were in for a freezing cold night so we eventually decided to cook some food and make a start scoffing our snacks. Eventually, morning came and we were greeted with some of the best sunrise views I have ever seen in Scotland. You could even see the Isle of Skye. The air temperature through the night was around -5 and the windchill ranged from -10 to -13 which was bitterly cold, especially on the hands and face. The drone was sent up into the air again until it was time to take the tent down. Scott needed to bag a couple more Munros so he made a start on the route whilst I packed the tent away. As we made our way down, the low cloud/fog rolled into the valley which made for some very atmospheric views. We eventually hit the road where the bike was stashed. Scott peddled down the road to collect the van and came to pick me up afterwards. Unfortunately, it was time for the 6 and a half hour drive home.
