MythBusters — S12 E11 "Commercial Myths" — Aired July 24, 2014 A commercial showed a bungee jumper plunging 100 feet toward a barrel of water at the bottom, dunking their head in on the way down, and biting out an apple before the cord snapped them back up, and Adam and Jamie decided to find out whether any of that was physically achievable, building a dummy they named Bungee Buster and fine-tuning a bungee cord at a 100-foot construction crane above a swimming pool until the dummy could consistently penetrate only a few inches below the water surface on each drop, then calibrating the cord separately for Jamie's and Adam's actual body weights, placing a large plastic hoop in the pool as an accuracy target and finding both could hit it reliably, and finally floating foam rubber apples inside the hoop to find out whether a real person dropping at bungee speed could actually bite one on the way through.
