EP 8 - Part 1 - Exploring Oz - Atherton Tablelands - QLD

After leaving Port Douglas it was nice to get into a more moderately cooler climate in Atherton. We arrived at the Atherton Holiday Park and what a great and friendly little park this gem is, and in no time we had camp setup and we were ready to go exploring. We started by exploring the township of Atherton before then visiting Curtain Fig National Park then onto Yungaburra to check out the town as well as the Platypus Viewing Platform. Nothing doing at the viewing platform so we went on a walk through the Petersons Creek Walking Track and boy am I glad we diid. It is a stunning walk with lots to see and do and yes we did find our Platypus in the wild. We spent some time in the Yungaburra township and had a lovely coffee and something to eat in a small cafe on the other side of town. We then headed out towards Lake Tinaroo and visited The Yungaburra Afghanistan Avenue of Honour. It is refreshing to see a township dedicated to making there town a very special place to be and to live and visit. Keep up the great work Yungaburra.
