Natasha Babu, a clinical psychologist who herself grew up in foster care, shares her story of overcoming obstacles and societal expectations. Receiving a 9.5 ACE [Adverse Childhood Experience] score, all signs pointed towards Natasha growing up to lead a life of struggle, yet she didn’t let her environment define her, and went on to receive a 4.0 grade point average in both high school and college. Post-college she herself became a clinical psychologist who now helps people, many of whom face similar challenges to herself, fight through their problems, and conquer their own destiny! ‘It takes a village to raise a child’ proved true in the life of Natasha and her years of turmoil and survival. Landing with a small team of dedicated teachers, her life took a sudden turn and she entered the world of ‘foster care’. In her talk, Natasha reflects on how this team of teachers & strangers became a village of supportive strength allowing her to become a dedicated and passionate clinician. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
