Jemma Sahakyan remembers Rudolf Khachatryan

Jemma Sahakyan, Rudolf Khachatryan's first wife, recalls meeting him at the Armenian House of Arts Workers (ADRI) in Yerevan at the turn of 1956–1957: his first friends — Ruben Adalyan, Tigran Levonyan and Shahen Khachatryan; the early charcoal and sanguine drawings and the portraits of the artist's father, Loris Khachatryan; the Union of Artists turning him down until the bronze medal in Vienna; the support of Grigor Khanjyan and of the Union's chairman Albert Parsamyan; the first buyers — academician Bunyatyan and the collector Apollon; the flat and the studio obtained with the help of Martiros Saryan, with Minas Avetisyan as a neighbour; the trips to Senezh, meeting Natalia Schneider, and the divorce.
