A Rescued Chimp Wakes Up Needing a Hug | Monkey Life Season 8 Episode 9

Dr. John Lewis examines baby marmoset Leo, discovering the 4-month-old is hopping like a rabbit due to extreme nutritional bone disease caused by the cruel exotic pet trade. Meanwhile, the primate care team attempts a complex simultaneous enclosure swap for the gibbons, but the plan quickly unravels into a total stalemate when none of the apes will cooperate! Over at the chimp house, mischievous 9-year-old Roers relentless torments the grumpier members of the troop before the grand opening of their newly renovated playroom. A young, hyperactive squirrel monkey named Charlie moves in with a fierce mob of older females, and the woolly monkey team prepares for an international transfer, sending a mother and son to Holland while welcoming a new female to boost the endangered species' breeding program! Meanwhile, the primate care team fills the chimpanzee pond with yogurt-stuffed plastic ducks to see if the apes will overcome their natural fear of water. Over at the orangutan nursery, 9-year-old Jolie and her adoptive mom A-Mei transition to an adult enclosure, but the move stalls when Jolie gets a nasty shock from the electric fence! Monkey Life follows the work of Monkey World Ape Rescue Centre with nail-biting rescue and rehabilitation stories. Whilst there are primates in need, Dr. Alison Cronin, Jeremy Keeling and their dedicated team continue to fight the illegal trade in primates and give those rescued a safe haven for the rest of their lives.
