Currents — Retributioner | Реакция на металкор

Released on 30 October 2026 via Rise Records, Retributioner is the lead single from Currents' fourth studio album, Our Fates Lie in Tandem. Scheduled for release on 12 February 2027, the 11-track record marks the Connecticut metalcore band's debut with Rise Records after their previous run on SharpTone Records. Musically, Retributioner signals a noticeable shift in approach for vocalist Brian Wille, guitarists Chris Wiseman and Ryan Castaldi, bassist Christian Pulgarin, and drummer Matt Young. Stepping back from the relentless, breakdown-heavy structure of 2023's The Death We Seek and the 2025 All That Follows EP, the track leans into a groove-driven melodic metalcore style with lower-register clean vocals and big chorus hooks reminiscent of bands like While She Sleeps. The single arrives shortly after the band's September 2026 stripped-back EP, Worlds Away, which reworked five tracks from The Way It Ends and The Death We Seek. Speaking on the direction of Our Fates Lie in Tandem, Wille noted that the band agreed a song does not need to be a walking breakdown to make an impact, opting instead to balance lows, highs, and melodic pacing.
