She first went to prison at age 13, for participating in a peaceful protest. Her strong resolve for Tibet's independence and subsequent actions in prison ended up with her original sentence being extended to 23 years. She remains an irrepressible champion of human rights and non-violence in spite of the daunting obstacles she faces. She recounts her early years and how her patriot father implicitly inspired her into the freedom movement in Tibet.
