Not having been put videoing much lately I couldnt pass up a trip to Devon for three trains. The day began overcast and got worse into the afternoon when rain appeared.
First up was the Atlantic Voyager with 47812 and 47813 from Dorridge to Newquay. The 47s were ex First Great Western stalwarts and I saw them many times while on holiday in Dawlish.
Next was a luxury rail cruise. the Brittanic Explorer which started at Bishops Lydeard and was heading for Penzance with 66744 Heart of Wales and 66748.
The first English Riviera Express of the season was headed bu 61306 Mayflower wityh 47593 Galloway Princess providing assistance and electric to the train. This train was looped at Dawlish Warren to inspe
ct the train at the request of the driver as it was booked to pass no stop originally.
I then got the train to Paignton for a well earned cuppa in the cafe at Queens Park and watched Lydham Manor arrive from the warm cafe.
I got the train to Torre for Mayflowers return and after the fear there may have been a problem at Dawlish Warren Mayflower went up the bank towards Newton Abbot in fine style albeit with help from 47593
All in all a good day despite the awful weather.
