Is money simply something we possess—or can it begin to possess us? In The Money Test, Pastor Yogan Pillay examines what the Bible teaches about money, greed, generosity and godly stewardship. Scripture repeatedly shows that our attitude toward money can reveal what is happening in the heart. Judas walked with Jesus, witnessed His miracles and was entrusted with the money bag—yet his relationship with money eventually contributed to one of Scripture's greatest betrayals. Ananias and Sapphira wanted the reputation of generosity while secretly practising deception. Jesus told the parable of a successful man whose harvest became so abundant that he decided to build bigger barns to store everything for himself—only to hear God say, “Thou fool…” But the Bible also gives us another picture: Barnabas, Zacchaeus, the widow who gave sacrificially, the Good Samaritan and the generous Macedonian believers. This message explores an important distinction: Money is not the enemy. The danger is allowing money to become the master. 📖 In this sermon: Judas and the danger of the love of money Ananias and Sapphira: money, dishonesty and the heart Jesus' parable of the rich fool and his bigger barns Biblical examples of greed and selfishness Biblical examples of extraordinary generosity The difference between wise saving and selfish hoarding What it means to be a godly steward Why generosity is about more than the amount we give How our use of money can reveal the condition of our hearts Jesus said: “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” — Matthew 6:21 And: “Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” — Matthew 6:24 The question is not simply, “How much money do I have?” The deeper question is: “What am I doing with what God has placed in my hands?” Watch The Money Test and examine your own relationship with money through the light of Scripture.
