During the last week, an unconfirmed report was made suggesting that a vent right below the surface northwest of Krakatau's main edifice was actively erupting, effusing a lava dome. As a result, the exclusion zone around that northwest vent was expanded from 1 to 2 kilometers in all directions. (Although the broader 5 kilometer exclusion zone around Anak Krakatau still covers all of this area). Today's video discusses the potential implications of this change in October 2026. Now, I want to note that the report I am basing this video off of IS unconfirmed, and could be inaccurate (maybe this vent is not actually erupting).
Note: This video's thumbnail shows an image of Krakatau erupting before its December 2018 landslide.
