This large gearless elevator motor is still in use downtown Nashville with modern controls. Notice all of the exposed high voltage components such as the brushes and brush rigging. This machine is roped 1:1 and double-wrapped. There is another sheave directly below the one on the motor. The rope starts on the elevator cab, goes around the motor, down to the deflection sheave, back to the motor, down the deflection sheave and then down to the counterweight. The do this double wrap for more traction between the motor drive sheave and the ropes. This is a very common configuration for a mid-rise and smaller high rise buildings.
