Emil Miszk Modulaire - Saying Something | from MEGALOPOLIS

Emil Miszk Modulaire - Saying Something from the album MEGALOPOLIS out October 9, 2026 on Alpaka Records What happens when we finally say something out loud? Saying Something is a single from MEGALOPOLIS, the new double vinyl album by Emil Miszk Modulaire: a large, modular international ensemble bringing together musicians from the Baltic Sea region and the Nordic countries. The piece continues Emil Miszk’s fascination with Frank Zappa’s way of building music: sharp contrasts, sudden turns, large ensemble energy, precision, humour and the constant play between composition and performance. The text used in the piece is inspired by a haiku by Matsuo Bashō, often translated as: Should I say a word My lips turn cold In the autumn wind 物いへば唇寒し龝の風 mono ieba / kuchibiru samushi / aki no kaze Sometimes words change everything. They can bring people closer, create distance, reveal something we wanted to hide, or leave us in silence. Bashō’s image of cold lips and autumn wind captures that moment perfectly: the instant after speaking, when we feel the weight of what has just been said.
