On one of the field trips, Sameen was supposed to kill the target, however, Voight's team was in place. Confirming that Shaw is alive, they begin to delve into the investigation into the series of murders and conclude that Sameen is behind most of them. Voight ultimately realizes that the true villain is not his former detective, but someone behind the veil.
