Shivratri different from rest of India - Tribal Shivratri.

Shivratri celebration in our Kinnaur is different from rest of India . In our Shumchoo valley Shivratri is celebrated according to the gol sang ( moon) which doesn’t fall in the same date with Hindu calendar. This year I was fortunate to witness this beautiful celebration. It is celebrated for 3 days . Traditional rituals are done so gracefully. Folklore and folk songs are there for every ritual . A large roti is made which is regarded as a luck sign for the whole village . There are many beliefs regarding with roti . Shakuli and mandala are established on the day one of Shivratri. Traditional folk songs and with traditional dance Jagran is done and next day early in the morning Rahula preparation is done and there is a ritual done in high is known as Rahula hanma. 3rd day is the last of Shivratri in this day people from village goes to take blessings from Mahadev and large roti which was made in the name of lord shiva is cut with traditional songs .
