After the Vote: Every Australian Counts NDIS Community Debrief

In this Every Australian Counts community forum, we come together following the passage of major changes to the NDIS Act to understand what the new legislation could mean for people with disability, families and the wider disability community. Hosted by EAC Independent Chair Dr George Taleporos, the forum features: • Belinda Kochanowska, Founder and Principal of Intrepidus Law • Naomi Anderson, Legal Practice Manager at Villamanta Disability Rights Legal Service • Senator Jordon Steele-John The discussion covers: • changes to plan reassessments and renewals • new record-keeping requirements • support determinations and their potential impact on participant budgets • plan suspensions and revocations • the new 90-day timeframe for claims • changes to reasonable and necessary supports • maximum funding determinations • what the disability community can do next • questions from community members. The forum also reflects on the extraordinary advocacy undertaken by people with disability, families, advocates and organisations—and why documenting the real impacts of these changes will be critical as they are implemented.
