Supermarkets warn: PH edging towards stagflation | DZMM TeleRadyo

Steven Cua, Philippine Amalgamated Supermarkets Association executive director, warns vs a move towards stagflation wherein rising prices, slow economic growth and high unemployment happen all at the same time. Cua said the weakening of the peso to the US dollar means prices of imported items and raw materials will go up. “Even locally manufactured items tataas yun,” he said. “We are a consumer-driven economy so ‘yung pagtaas ng sweldo, makakatulong para umikot ang pera pero of course malaking dahilan bakit may inflation at mahina ang growth ng economy dahil nga pigil muna ang paggastos ng gobyerno sa infra,” he added.
