It's time for my first proper listen to NMIXX! I'd heard so much about their reputation as vocal powerhouses, and after an overwhelming number of recommendations, I finally got to know the group through their Tiny Desk Korea performance.
This was my first time listening to any of their songs all the way through, and I had a wonderful time getting to know the different voices, exploring their vocal techniques, and picking apart all the little details. There were some gorgeous harmonies, fascinating differences in tone and registers, and some rather unexpected ornamentation! Since these arrangements were adapted for Tiny Desk, I'm particularly interested to hear how the original recordings compare.
You recommended Blue Valentine, Crescendo, and Heavy Serenade, so I'll be looking at those three in a follow-up analysis, including the music, lyrics, and performances. And NMIXX fans, please feel free to tell me more about the members, their music, and anything interesting I might have missed. I love reading your long comments, so don't feel that you need to apologise for writing an essay!

I’m a music analyst, classical singer, and dancer, and on this channel I break down music and performance—what works, what doesn’t, and the details you might not have noticed.
With 24+ years of dance experience across multiple styles, and ongoing work as a vocalist in ensemble and solo settings, I look at how music, movement, and performance come together from both a technical and practical perspective.
