Waiting for the Rain - Ibn Shukr When the road feels long And relief seems far away, I remind myself: Allah has never abandoned me. With patience, perseverance, and reliance on Him— Ease will come. I’ve been walking through the heat with the sun on my back, Every mile getting harder, but I work hard to stay on track. Got a heart full of prayers and my shoes full of sand, Still I trust in Allah when I don’t understand. No shade from the pain, no escape from the test, But I know what Allah chooses will always be best. Every dream feels buried, every hope feels dry, Still I pray for His mercy with my hands to the sky. I’ve been thirsty for relief, I’ve been searching for peace, Asking Allah when the weight on my chest will release. But patience means believing when the sky shows no change, And faith means trusting Allah through the heartache and pain. I’m in a desert, waiting for the rain, With my hands raised to Allah and a heart full of pain. Though the clouds haven’t gathered, my trust will remain— I’m in a desert, waiting for the rain. Every drought has an ending, every trial has a close, Allah sends us His mercy when we need it the most. So I’ll stand through the heat, calling out His name— I’m in a desert, waiting for the rain. I’ve seen doors close tight when I needed a way, Seen the people I trusted turn and walk away. Had my plans fall apart, had my confidence shake, But reliance on Allah gave me strength not to break. Every struggle built strength where my weakness once stood, Allah may take what I want to replace it with good. What I thought was an ending was clearing the ground, For a blessing much greater than the one I had found. I don’t know when it’s coming, but I know Who provides, So I walk with perseverance, with Allah as my Guide. When the thunder starts rolling, I’ll remember the days When I trusted in Allah though the sky stayed the same. Patience isn’t passive—it’s a war in the soul, It’s holding onto faith when you’re losing control. It’s relying on Allah when your plans disappear, And continuing forward when the pathway’s unclear. Perseverance is praying when the answers feel late, Still trusting in Allah and accepting your fate. It’s believing His mercy may be found in delay, And the blessing you need may be growing on the way. So I won’t let the hardship make my heart become cold, Every test is a chapter, there’s more to unfold. Allah sees every footprint, every tear, every strain, Every step through the desert while I’m waiting for rain. If it hasn’t come yet, that don’t mean I’m denied, Allah knows every burden and the tears that I hide. Every prayer that I whispered, every night that I prayed, May be calling down a storm that is already on its way. So I’ll wait with conviction, I’ll be patient through pain, Because Allah made the desert— And Allah sends the rain. I was in a desert, waiting for the rain, With my hands raised to Allah through the sorrow and strain. Now the clouds are above me, washing over my pain— I was in a desert, now I’m feeling the rain. Every drought had an ending, every trial had a close, Allah sent me His mercy when I needed it most. Through reliance and patience, I kept calling His name— I was in a desert… Then Allah sent the rain. Be patient. Keep moving. Rely upon Allah. An empty sky does not mean He has forgotten you. The rain may already be on its way.
