Badminton BC Centennial Ro16 Andrew vs YY

I know YY Chang from Seattle is a very strong player. He has some seriously impressive wins from 2024. I know because I have processed every single Open MS match in BC since the beginning of 2022 for my provincial ranking algorithm. By the end of 2024, YY Chang was ranked in the top 5 according to my algorithm. He is competitive with the very best players in the province. I spoke to him after our match and complimented his play. He said that he is retired because of an injury from 2022, but even in 2024 I know he was performing at a top level by BC standards. He also refused my compliments and denied that he is a good player, so I guess he was trying to be modest. I invited him to attend the next Island Open. My club president Tashin knows who YY is, but my head coach had never heard of him. Coach Graeme spoke to me at the interval of game 2 after missing the first game, not realizing how strong YY is. I was lucky to score any points in game 1, but somehow I won the game 2 interval 8-7. The highlight of my tournament was blocking one of his smashes in the second half of the second game. YY went on to win his quarterfinal match against Lyem Fedoretz, and then lose in the semifinals to the eventual champion, Anish Jojula.
