Ancient Rome Mappack - 19 Showdown at the Arena (Serious 100%)

Alright, last level of the mappack! Surprisingly this is the hardest level of the bunch. Fights are top notch across the board and while I'm not a huge fan of the Mordekai boss personally, it works well enough. Mappack as a whole is a bit of a mixed bag but overall I had a good expereince with it. Positives: Being able to play NE levels through Classic TSE & Revolution Experiencing NE levels with classic Sam gameplay Overall pretty faithful to the source material Getting to play main & lost levels in chronological order with the inclusion of levels that were known to be cut from NE Fights are generally good Negatives: New secrets often waste the player's time by being put in far away corners of the map New secrets range from being lazy to being so stupidly obscure you basically need to watch Mkbewe's guide on them (wonder if it's intentional since he made the mappack...) Maps are much larger in scale compared to NE which wastes time While fun, fights are pretty repetitive with their enemy usage Clean starts not being taken into consideration for secret weapon progression Overall I like this mappack, I think it's a neat way to get to experience the NE campaign and it's obviously way more accessible too since you don't need to use an emulator. At the same time I think a few too many liberties have been taken like adding additional secrets, scaling up the map sizes, etc. It's obviously not a faithful recreation of NE for classic Sam but for what it is I think it's a commendable effort. One overarching negative I have with this mappack however is the almost seemingly intentional desire to waste the player's time. Maps are larger, secrets counts are increased and put in some of the most obvious yet stupid locations ever conceived, fights often have very similar structure and the solution for dealing with it is largely the same. In conclusion, it's a good mappack but one best experienced in short stints. If you're playing the map casually just following the main path then you'll likely have a good time. If you're like me and are playing with getting all secrets in mind then you'll likely feel frustration at just how far away most secrets are and the fact they're almost always copy-pasted to the opposite end of whatever structure you have to walk around.
