According to Krishnamurthy, we run away from our mind because the mind is afraid of uncertainty and unknown, being an familiar, limited and structured unit. The mind, which is a series of thoughts, feelings and memories, always looks for a "known", and has a spontaneous fear towards the unknown.
Krishnamurthy said that the mind tries to avoid fear of unknown by being busy with constant activities and thoughts. This is a way, an attempt to avoid its boundaries and limits. The mind remains in existence through an image and perceptions, and therefore, afraid of uncertainty.
According to Krishnamurthy, the only way to calm the mind and be free from fear is in understanding the mind and accepting its boundaries. When we look at our thoughts and feelings without any decision, we can be free from the trap of the mind.
Krishnamurthy said that peace and freedom of mind is obtained by stopping the continuous flow of ideas and entering "silence". This silence is not an inactivity, but a conscious state, where the mind sees everything without any thought or decision.
In short, we run away from our mind because it is afraid of unknown and engages in continuous activism, so that it can stay away from its boundaries. According to Krishnamurthy, peace and freedom of mind is obtained by understanding the mind and calming it.
