THE OGs OF GHUMAT AARTI | The Masters Who Shaped Goa's Sound | Goa Stories S02E24

Ghumat Aarti today is synonymous with competitions, championships and unforgettable performances. But who shaped the sound before all of this became a phenomenon? From Bhagweshwar Sanskrutik Mandal of Talaulim and the Bhingi family, to Navodit Aarti Mandal of Betki and the generations of performers and mentors that followed, this is the story of the people who helped take Ghumat Aarti from tradition to competition. Featuring memories and insights from Sudesh Bhingi, Manohar Bhingi, Master Suraj Pinge, Govind Bhagat, Master Ramdas Borkar and Subhash Kamalkar, the documentary traces the evolution of Ghumat Aarti — its melodies, compositions, experiments, competitions and the masters who shaped its journey. It also remembers the contribution of lesser-known musical pioneers such as Mahendra Gaonkar of Cumbharjua and Eknath Naik, alongside the influence of Vasant Bhagwant Sawant and Sanvordem Ganeshotsav Mandal. The generations changed. The music evolved. But the beat remained. This is their story. The OGs of Ghumat Aarti.
