Ep. 82 | Making Room For What Comes Next

After five months at Big Skies, I’m back at the family home and once again confronted by a life that still seems to exist in boxes. This week I strip things back a little further. Books, clothes and belongings accumulated over the years are either given away, donated or finally thrown out. And strangely, it feels good. I also head back into the hills around Abergavenny, walking a circuit over the Deri and Sugar Loaf before dropping into the beautiful old sessile oak woodland of St Mary’s Vale. Along the way I revisit a few places - and memories - from my childhood, including one small piece of rock that defeated a frightened nine-year-old nearly fifty years ago. Finally, I catch up with an old Army mate from Wild About Wales to talk walking, camping and the equipment I’ll need for the much bigger journey that lies ahead.
