Ten mulching units shred the maize stubble across the entire working width immediately after cutting. This promotes rapid decomposition of the crop residues and improves field hygiene. Particularly with regard to the European corn borer, intensive shredding of the stubble is key to preventing the pest from overwintering in the crop residues.
