In this problem, we consider a 2D collision between two particles in which the motion of one is constrained. In the previous part of this problem, we considered one mass to be connected to the ground by a rigid rod. In this part of the problem, we replace the rod by a spring to see how the analysis and solution changes. Specifically, we consider how the impulses at the time of collision will change due to the spring, as compared to the rigid rod, and its effect on the conservation of linear momentum will be considered. The problem then goes beyond impact analysis to energy and angular momentum considerations.
