Ensemble Offspring presents Lost Science by Tansy Davies, recorded at The Neilson, ACO On The Pier, Sydney on 3 June 2026. Tansy Davies – Lost Science (2024)* flute/piccolo/alto flute, clarinet/bass clarinet, violin, viola, cello, percussion, live electronics *Australian premiere Co-commissioned by Ensemble Offspring with generous support from Charles Davidson. "An imaginary journey into the Earth’s interior, Lost Science dwells in a space between the Earth’s surface as we know it and older geophysical layers. That space could be 40,000 years old and carved out by an ancient waterway or it could be a volcanic cave, 4 billion years away. These interior spaces speak to us in moans, groans, echoes and whispers; the voice of Earth: secrets of her ‘deep time’ structure, and of the pains of the transformation she is undertaking now, which we too are experiencing." Artists Clark Rundell (conductor) Lamorna Nightingale (flutes) Jason Noble (clarinets) Niki Johnson (percussion) Véronique Serret (violin) Ella Beard (viola) Blair Harris (cello) Tansy Davies (live electronics) Véronique Benett (lighting design) Video and audio by Matt McGuigan (Hospital Hill) © Ensemble Offspring 2026 https://www.ensembleoffspring.com/ Ensemble Offspring is assisted by the Australian Government through Creative Australia, its principal arts investment and advisory body, and by the NSW government through Create NSW.
